Last week, Flagler Palm Coast soccer player Lauralee Macleod captured the honors, claiming 72% of the votes. After missing most of last season due to injury, Macleod is off to a fast start. The junior scored three goals in a 4-2 win over Celebration.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal gathers nominees for upcoming polls from across the area via email at cvinel@gannett.com. Please send a player’s name, school and notable statistics for a given week. Submissions are due no later than 8 a.m. every Monday.

To round out the ballot, our staff also picks athletes from scores and stats posted online or submitted by local coaches. Athletes for all in-season sports, except football, are eligible. The News-Journal recognizes the local gridiron stars with our weekly game balls story.

Voting in the online poll below will close at 10 a.m. Saturday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Emailed votes will not count.

Editor’s Note: We reserve the right to disqualify a candidate or declare a “no contest” if tampering such as bots or offering to pay for voting is evident. Please respect the integrity of the vote the way these athletes respect the integrity of the game.
