VERO BEACH — By September, Riverside Medical Center will be the home of a specialty Veterans Affairs clinic. It will operate in conjunction with the primary-care VA facility, already on site.
Work is being led by the West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System, which is renovating the site, hiring staff and will oversee the clinic.
The site should be fully operational by Sept. 30, according to West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System Executive Cory Price
Veterans will have access to audiology, cardiology, chiropractic, dental, dermatology, neurology, optometry, physical therapy, prosthetics, podiatry, pulmonology, urology and laboratory care once the site opens. The existing clinic now provides only primary and mental-health care.
The specialty clinic will take up 20,000 square feet within the medical plaza.
Currently, veterans seeking specialty care must travel to the Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center in Riviera Beach in Palm Beach County.
Pushed-back opening
Riverside Medical Center awarded the lease to the VA in July 2024, and officials anticipated a March opening. But delays during the finalization of construction plans pushed the opening to September.
Indian River County is home to more than 14,000 veterans, or 9.2% of the population.
