A two-vehicle crash in southwest Ocala claimed the life of one person and injured four others the night of Oct. 11.

Which agency is investigating the crash? Florida Highway Patrol.
Where was the crash? Southwest 49th Avenue and Southwest 117th Place.
What time was the crash? Approximately 11:10 a.m., FHP officials said.
What happened? Troopers said a Jeep Cherokee was southbound on 49th Avenue, just south of 117th Place. A Lincoln Town car was northbound on 49th Avenue approaching Jeep.
For an unknown reason, the Jeep crossed over into the Lincoln’s lane, according to FHP officials. The impact was an offset head-on (front-left to front-left) collision, troopers said.
Authorities said there were three men — an 18-year-old from an unknown location, a 22-year-old from Fort Lauderdale and a 35-year-old from Ocala — in the Jeep. The two younger occupants were listed in serious condition. The older man was in critical condition. They were transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, officials said.
Inside the Lincoln were two men, ages 31 and 70. Officials said the 31-year-old, from Ocala, was in critical condition. The older man died.
Both were taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where the older man was pronounced deceased at 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 11, authorities said.
What’s the status of those injured and the investigation? Officials said the injured are still being treated, and the investigation is ongoing.
