Two programs pushing to flip four-star FSU commit

Four-star safety Tedarius Hughes has been committed to FSU for over a year, but his recruitment isn’t over just yet. Multiple schools are pushing to flip the Miami native, and he recently spoke with John Garcia Jr. of Rivals to discuss his recruitment.

Two of the schools pushing are the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Colorado Buffaloes. Hughes visited Nebraska in June on an unofficial visit and admitted he will “likely” return for an official visit during the season.

“I feel like having a Florida kid at a place like Nebraska can change the program for real,” he said. “They welcome all of the Florida kids, they do a good job down here.”

Colorado and Deion Sanders are the most recent school to offer Hughes a scholarship, doing so on June 2. With them entering the race so late, Hughes told Garcis he is “still learning about them.”

Hughes is the No. 322 overall player and No. 29 safety in On3’s industry ranking. The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is also the No. 47 player from Florida.

While he is still considering visiting other programs, Hughes will also be back in Tallahassee during the 2025 season.

“Everything is good, I’m still committed,” Hughes said. “I plan on getting out to the Alabama game.”
