Takeaways from Day 1 of Dolphins training camp

The Miami Dolphins opened their training camp practice schedule Wednesday, and while there were several standout performances, the injury bug struck early, sidelining multiple players.

Veteran cornerback Artie Burns is feared to have suffered an ACL injury. Burns, who signed with Miami this offseason after three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, is entering his ninth year as a pro at age 30. However, his 2025 season now appears to be in serious jeopardy.

Adding to the unfortunate circumstances, offensive lineman Byron Matos was airlifted off the field following an unspecified injury. As of Wednesday afternoon, the team has not provided details, though reports indicate Matos is in stable condition.
