The trial lasted less than a day with jury members deliberating for only 20 minutes before returning with their verdict. A request for comment on the case is pending with Dubois’ attorney, Kimberly Garner of the Office of Regional Conflict Counsel.

On April 11, 66 dogs were seized from the Dubois Rescue. Dubois was issued 60 citations and then arrested May 2 on multiple misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and confining animals without sufficient food or water.

Many of the dogs had parasites, matted fur, no clean or accessible food or water and were standing in a large amount of their own waste at the time they were taken from Dubois, according to reports.

Witnesses included neighbors, members of the Leon County Humane Society, and acquaintances of DuBois who presented images of the scene, text messages and more.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 1. Dubois is being held without bond till then.
