The Miami Dolphins had all 53 players on their active roster at practice Wednesday, as well as a pair on injured reserve.
The bad news, though, is that wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was among the seven players limited. Miami’s No. 1 wide receiver is dealing with a foot injury and it’d be a significant blow if he was unavailable against the New Orleans Saints.
Offensive tackle Austin Jackson and tight end Darren Waller are both working to come back from the IR, but haven’t yet been moved to the 53-man roster. Jackson’s 21-day window to return was opened prior to the Dolphins’ Week 11 game and he’s believed to be close to ready for action.
On Wednesday, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel raved about the impact Jackson can have on the field.
“That competitive, violent play style that he aggressively attacks people with, it’s infectious,” McDaniel said of Jackson. “Him being in the huddle is infectious. I’ve been very, very happy with Larry (Borom) and the whole group and I didn’t know if we’d be able to get to that tonality of how we play football and our physicality and conviction. I didn’t know how much Austin (Jackson) not being there was going to hurt.
“I’ve been very proud of the group but getting him back into football and just into the huddle is a big deal for our football team because he’s not only a really good player, but he adds value to all those around him by his consistency, commitment, talent and quite literally I’m really fired up about his aggressiveness.”
