Travis Etienne Jr. was the heart of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense in their 27-24 victory against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Jaguars running back finished the game with 15 carries for 86 rushing yards, including a 45-yard scamper in the first quarter.
His longest rush of the day set up his 15-yard touchdown reception to score the first touchdown of the game and put the Jaguars up 7-0.
Etienne Jr. recorded three receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown, and had the third most receptions and fourth most receiving yards on the team. He finished with 116 scrimmage yards and a touchdown.
The running game has been a big part of the Jaguars’ success on offense this season. Along with Etienne’s production, Jacksonville finished with 134 rushing yards as a team, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
When an offense has a run game to lean on, it can do wonders for the passing game, which is then able to operate from ahead of the sticks, which can open up opportunities.
Within the Liam Coen offense specifically, the run and passing game concepts go hand-in-hand.
