The Jaguars, now 6-4, are coming off one of their most complete games in recent memory, a 35-6 demolition of a playoff-contending Los Angeles Chargers team. That victory included top-five performances in team history in yards allowed and first downs allowed, and greatly increased Jacksonville’s chances of playoff football.

The Cardinals, with Jacoby Brissett in at quarterback in place of the injured Kyler Murray, have allowed 85 points in their last two games. Even 47 completions and 452 passing yards for Brissett couldn’t keep the Cardinals (3-7) from a 41-22 loss to San Francisco.

Grades? Not great for Jacksonville Jaguars in overtime win over Arizona Cardinals

The Jacksonville Jaguars have moved to 7-4 after defeating the Arizona Cardinals in an overtime victory.

The team will face the Tennessee Titans next week in a matchup that could spring them into a pivotal game against the Indianapolis Colts on Dec. 7. However, before we get to those games, let’s take a look at how the Jaguars grade out after their duel in the desert. –Juston Lewis

Jacksonville Jaguars find a way to beat Arizona Cardinals 27-24 in OT: Key takeaways

The Jacksonville Jaguars (7-4) held on to defeat the Arizona Cardinals (3-8) 27-24 in overtime. It was a game that was a lot tougher than many assumed it would be entering the week.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence struggled mightily at times, turning the ball over four times, including one that went for a touchdown to tie the ballgame at 7-7 early. He tossed three interceptions, including a crucial pick to Cardinals safety Budda Baker in the fourth quarter.

When it was needed the most, though, Lawrence completed all four of his passes on a go-ahead drive, including a nine-yard touchdown pass to receiver Parker Washington. Key takeaways from Arizona. –Demetrius Harvey

Four Downs: Jacksonville Jaguars get full Trevor Lawrence experience in OT victory. Four questions from the game

Four questions and answers from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 27-24 overtime win over the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium:

Question: The Jaguars made it look easy on their opening drive. What happened after that in the first half? Answer: First let’s talk about that first drive. Travis Etienne rush for 2, Brenton Strange catch for 30, Etienne rush for 45 and Etienne catch 15 (touchdown). Just like that, the Jaguars’ 97-yard drive, their longest since Nov. 11, 2018.

The game was right there for the Jaguars to seize control. But then they mostly spun their wheels. –Ryan O’Halloran

FINAL: Jaguars 27, Cardinals 24: Christian Braswell and Andrew Wingard break up fourth-down pass

That’ll do it. The Jaguars survive. The Cardinals drove across midfield but Jarrian Jones broke up a third-down pass and Christian Braswell and Andrew Wingard combined to deny Arizona on fourth down. It’s OT victory, the hard way, for the Jags in Arizona. They’re up to 7-4. –Clayton Freeman

Jaguars score: Cam Little converts 52-yard field goal, Cardinals ball next

A lead for the Jags, but a missed opportunity. Trevor Lawrence threw to a wide-open Tim Patrick on the wheel route up the right sideline but the receiver didn’t look back for the ball. The Jaguars settled for a Cam Little 52-yarder for the lead, but the Cardinals will get a chance for the win.

END OF REGULATION: Jaguars 24, Cardinals 24

Overtime in Arizona. Reminder: No Jaguars regular-season game has ever ended in a tie. –Clayton Freeman

Cardinals score: Chad Ryland ties score with 29-yard field goal

The Jaguars pay for that failure to kill the clock. Jacoby Brissett marched Arizona upfield with no timeouts, including a Michael Carter fourth-down conversion, and got help from a 12-men penalty on Jacksonville. Then, a Michael Wilson completion after burning Christian Braswell deep. After a misfire to the end zone, Chad Ryland booted a tying field goal. The Cardinals are still alive.

Cardinals 24, Jaguars 24, 0:03 4th. –Clayton Freeman

Jaguars fail to kill clock, turn over on downs

Not a success for the Jags. Three and out, or more accurately four and out, after the Jags failed to convert. Bhayshul Tuten was stuffed on third down, and after Liam Coen passed up the Cam Little field goal attempt, Trevor Lawrence threw incomplete for Tim Patrick on a roll-out. All timeouts are gone for Arizona, but that burned only 20 seconds.

Jaguars 24, Cardinals 21, 1:38 4th. –Clayton Freeman

Jaguars force turnover on downs inside two minutes

Looking better for the Jags. Antonio Johnson made a sack on a safety blitz, offensive pass interference wiped out a third-down completion to Michael Wilson and Andrew Wingard hurried Jacoby Brissett into a fourth-down incompletion on another safety blitz. The ball goes over to the Jaguars near the red zone. Arizona still has all three timeouts. The Jags need only a first down. Jaguars 24, Cardinals 21, 1:58 4th. –Clayton Freeman

Jaguars score: Parker Washington makes diving catch on Trevor Lawrence pass for TD

Despite four turnovers, the Jags are back in front. A big assist to Brenton Strange for two key catches on that drive. It ends with Parker Washington’s diving catch on a Trevor Lawrence pass from the 10. The Jaguars are 1-37 all-time with four or more turnovers, with a Nov. 21, 2010 game against Cleveland the only exception. Can they pull off a messy win?

Jaguars 24, Cardinals 21, 3:47 4th. –Clayton Freeman

Cardinals score: Jacoby Brissett to Greg Dortch for go-ahead touchdown

The Cardinals make the Jaguars pay. Wide open over the middle, and Jacoby Brissett’s pass to Greg Dortch splits the safeties on the way to the 41-yard touchdown. The Jaguars have committed four turnovers today.

Cardinals 21, Jaguars 17, 7:12 4th. –Clayton Freeman

Interception: Cardinals’ Budda Baker picks off Trevor Lawrence again

Trevor Lawrence’s rough day continues. After underthrowing Tim Patrick on second down, Lawrence telegraphs a pass to Austin Trammell and Budda Baker makes the diving grab in Jacksonville territory at the 41. Jaguars 14, Cardinals 14, 8:37 4th. –Clayton Freeman

Wild Jaguars play: Parker Washington tackled in end zone by Cardinals, but no safety. Here’s why

Don’t see that every day. After the Cardinals batted a punt to keep it from going into the end zone for a touchback, Jaguars punt returner Parker Washington picked the ball up anyway and tried to return it. He ended up driven back into his own end zone, and Arizona celebrated an apparent safety. No safety, though: By rule, when the Cardinals touched the ball to down it, the Jaguars had the option to accept the downing of the ball and thus to negate everything that came afterward. Still, the Jags have horrible field position at their own 1. –Clayton Freeman

Jacoby Brissett returns to game, Cardinals to punt

Jacoby Brissett is back in the action but the Arizona offense isn’t making progress at the moment. He’s back in the game after the brief Kedon Slovis appearance. Here’s what fans should know about the injury and the play where it occurred. –Tim Walters

End of third quarter: Jaguars 17, Cardinals 14

One more quarter to go. Jacoby Brissett is out of the medical tent for Arizona and looks like he might be returning to action when the Cardinals get the ball next. –Clayton Freeman

Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett injured on Devin Lloyd sideline hit

Jacoby Brissett was running along the sideline when Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd hit him hard, knocking him into sideline personnel. Brissett went down and a small scuffle broke out on the sidelines. Officials originally flagged Lloyd for unnecessary roughness but picked it up. BYU’s Kedon Slovis is into the game at QB for Arizona. Jaguars 17, Cardinals 14, 3:08 3rd. –Clayton Freeman

Interception: Cardinals’ Akeem Davis-Gaither picks off Trevor Lawrence in Jags territory

Another miscue for the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence, on third down coming out of a timeout, throws over the middle and Akeem Davis-Gaither makes the interception. Arizona takes over at around the 40. Jaguars 17, Cardinals 14, 3:30 3rd. –Clayton Freeman

Jaguars score: Trevor Lawrence to Jakobi Meyers TD restores Jags’ lead

Parker Washington’s long punt return set this one up. Playing with a short field, the Jaguars first got a first down on Bhayshul Tuten’s run, then after a too-short throw intended for Washington in the end zone as well as low-block penalty, Trevor Lawrence floated a third-down pass against a mass blitz to Jakobi Meyers for the score.

Jaguars 17, Cardinals 14, 8:10 3rd. –Clayton Freeman

Interception: Cardinals’ Garrett Williams picks off Trevor Lawrence in end zone

Another red-zone disaster. The Jaguars drove down to the 5 after a Brenton Strange reception on the sideline. But Trevor Lawrence had his latest red-zone turnover. His throw, possibly altered by Calais Campbell, came in behind Jakobi Meyers on a slant in the end zone, and Arizona’s Garrett Williams grabbed the pick. The Jaguars come up empty. Cardinals 14, Jaguars 10, 12:58 3rd. –Clayton Freeman

Second half kicks off: Jaguars to receive

Can the Jaguars come back in Arizona? A lot of issues for the Jags. –Clayton Freeman

HALFTIME: Cardinals 14, Jaguars 10

The half ends with an Arizona sack, and the Jaguars are sputtering badly against one of the league’s worst teams. Not a great situation in the playoff race. –Clayton Freeman

Missed field goal: Cardinals’ Chad Ryland wide right from 33

After a looooooong Arizona drive, the Cardinals come up empty. Jacoby Brissett overthrew a potential touchdown on third down and kicker Chad Ryland missed from 33 on fourth down. The Jaguars have a lot to clean up. Cardinals 14, Jaguars 10, 0:13 2nd. –Clayton Freeman

Cardinals score: Bam Knight touchdown run pushes Arizona in front

Penalties kept this drive going: a Greg Newsome illegal contact and a Devin Lloyd roughing-the-passer call, supposedly for landing with his body weight on Jacoby Brissett. The Cardinals took advantage, gaining yards in chunks and finishing with Bam Knight’s plunge from close range. The Jaguars are going to have to come from behind in Arizona.

Cardinals 14, Jaguars 10, 7:31 2nd. –Clayton Freeman

Jaguars score: Cam Little boots 52-yard go-ahead field goal

The Jaguars continue to move the ball on the ground, now above 80 yards for the game, but Arizona kept them out of the end zone. An unblocked Budda Baker and Calais Campbell combined to sandwich Trevor Lawrence on third down, leaving a long 52-yard field goal opportunity for Cam Little to drill down the middle.

Jaguars 10, Cardinals 7, 12:55 2nd. –Clayton Freeman

End of first quarter: Cardinals 7, Jaguars 7

The first quarter is in the books. The Jaguars largely dominated that period but one disastrous play around the goal line means it’s all tied up entering the second quarter in Arizona. –Clayton Freeman

Cardinals score: Walter Nolen III grabs fumble return TD from Trevor Lawrence

Walter Nolen III weighs 300 pounds, and he now owns an unlikely NFL return TD. Trevor Lawrence got hit from the right side by blitzing safety Jalen Thompson off the edge, and the loose ball fluttered into the hands of Nolen. The rookie took it back to the house from point-blank range. It’s a tie ballgame again.

Cardinals 7, Jaguars 7, 2:26 1st. –Clayton Freeman

Jaguars score: Travis Etienne runs for 15-yard touchdown after 97-yard drive

That was fast. Pinned back at their own 3 by an Arizona punt, the Jaguars zoomed upfield. The key plays: a 30-yard pass from Trevor Lawrence to a now-active Brenton Strange, a 45-yard Travis Etienne breakaway down the right side and a 15-yard Etienne burst up the middle to the end zone. That 97-yard march is Jacksonville’s longest since Nov. 11, 2018 against Indianapolis.

Jaguars at Cardinals picks: Can they lose to another backup QB?

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned in life, it’s that if something looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Case in point: All seven of our prognosticators picked the Chargers last week because Justin Herbert had been red-hot and the Jacksonville Jaguars were coming off one of their most demoralizing losses in franchise history.

The Jaguars played inspired as they smoked the Chargers 35-6. Let’s see if anyone is brave enough to choose Brissett and the Cardinals… –Tim Walters

Repeat rout for Jaguars over Cardinals? History says don’t bet on it

The toughest part for a team after their greatest moment? The next game.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, their 29-point rout of the Los Angeles Chargers (35-6) on Nov. 16 will be moot if they don’t dispatch of the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 23.

The Jaguars’ margin of victory over the Chargers was the 13th-largest in franchise history, which sent me into the Pro Football Reference rabbit hole to see how the Jaguars did following a lopsided win.

Hint: Not great. –Ryan O’Halloran

Why Jaguars rushing attack perfectly embodies Liam Coen’s vision

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen hasn’t been shy about what he wants his football team to be.

Coen’s mantra has been to be “F.A.S.T.,” meaning Fundamentally sound, Attacking, Situational masters and Tough, both mentally and physically.

A group that has epitomized that mantra has been the running backs room. A room consisting of now-veteran Travis Etienne, and two rookies with low expectations. –Demetrius Harvey

Jaguars vs. Cardinals inactives include Travon Walker, WR Brian Thomas Jr.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4) are getting healthier, but will still be without several key players later this afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals (3-7).

The team will be without starters, wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., right tackle Anton Harrison and defensive end Travon Walker. All three players were ruled out ahead of the team’s game against the Cardinals. Here’s the full inactives list. –Demetrius Harvey

Jaguars’ Josh Hines-Allen channels Calais Campbell. Bold predictions vs. Cardinals

When Josh Hines-Allen takes the field against the Arizona Cardinals (3-7) in Week 12, he will do so as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ (6-4) all-time sack leader.

He’s quickly become the “old head” in Jacksonville’s locker room, closing out his seventh season in the NFL. Week 12 is also a full-circle moment for Hines-Allen, who will face off against his former mentor, Arizona Cardinals DL Calais Campbell. Campbell and Hines-Allen were teammates during the latter’s rookie season.

Here are our bold predictions ahead of the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Cardinals. –Demetrius Harvey
