The accident happened shortly after noon at Vanderbilt Beach Road and Islandwalk Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The identity of the 17-year-old girl who died at the scene has not been released.

The crash is under investigation, including the color of the traffic signal at the time of the crash. There were no charges indicated in the incident report.

Two dozen people have died in auto-related crashes in Collier County so far this year, according to data from the highway patrol.

The Immokalee teen was driving a 2008 Ford west on Vanderbilt Beach in the inside lane and approaching the intersection of Islandwalk.

An 86-year-old man from Naples was driving a 2025 Jeep and was stopped facing east on Vanderbilt Beach at the intersection of Islandwalk, according to FHP reports.

The Immokalee teen drove into the intersection as the 86-year-old in the Jeep proceeded to turn left toward northbound Islandwalk and collided into the side of the teenager’s car, according to the report.

The teenager’s car flipped over and hit a light pole. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The front seat passenger of the Jeep and two juveniles in the rear were seriously injured and taken to a hospital. The 86-year-old driver was not injured.

There is no information if the drivers or passengers were wearing seatbelts.
