Emeka Egbuka has looked like he is going to be one of the future weapons of the Bucs offense. The pick that shocked everyone in round one is looking like a homerun through two weeks of the season as the former Ohio State Buckeye is tied for the NFL lead in touchdown receptions. But of course, there is always more to see besides what the box score and TV tell us.
To get some added context, we can turn to Pro Football Focus for that.

PFF’s Dalton Wasserman took a deep dive into the work of all 32 first-round draft picks who played in Week 3 this past weekend. PFF offers us some deeper insight into the performance, and Wasserman was able to lay out what Egbuka’s work looked like.
Wasserman writes, “Egbuka played a starring role in the Buccaneers’ thrilling victory over the Jets. Among his six receptions, totaling 85 yards, were a one-handed snag over Sauce Gardner and a terrific catch on a corner route on the team’s game-winning drive. All told, Egbuka earned an 81.8 PFF receiving grade — the seventh-best mark among qualified wide receivers in Week 3.”
He earned a very impressive 84.3 grade and was covered by Sauce Gardner. He was primarily covered by a big-time signing from the team this offseason, Brandon Stephens. He will have a chance to continue his hot hand in Week 4 when the likes of Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean come to Tampa Bay on Sunday.
