The younger brother of Vernell Brown III, offensive lineman Corey Brown, committed to the University of Florida as a preferred walk-on on Monday.
Brown posted the news on Twitter with the caption, “The legacy continues.” He is the eighth member of the family to pledge himself to the program. Besides his brother, Brown’s father (Vernell Jr.) and grandfather (Vernell Sr.) played for the Gators. Two great uncles, Charlie and Johnell, and one uncle, Vincent, laced up their cleats for the Orange and Blue. His cousin, Vincent Jr., is with the team now as a walk-on.
HUDL, a recruiting site used by high school players to upload game film, lists Brown as 6-foot-1, 280-pound interior lineman. He’s played both center and guard.
Florida’s 2026 recruiting class
Despite the firing of head coach Billy Napier, Florida has retained the bulk of its incoming recruiting class. 247Sports ranks Florida’s 2026 class No. 13 in the nation, with nine being four-star prospects. However, nothing is official until financial aid agreement forms are signed. The early signing period begins on December 3 and closes two days later.
Those who do not sign early can wait until the regular signing period, which begins February 4. If Florida does not announce a new coaching hire soon, a significant number of players could choose to hold out.
