The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating 36-year-old Jalynda Smith, who is wanted in connection with the death of her 5-year-old son.
In a Facebook message Feb. 6, Sheriff Chip Simmons said the ECSO had received a report of a body being found off Lillian Highway. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a 5-year-old boy in a trash bag.
“The suspect in this case is the victim’s mother,” Simmons said.
This is an active homicide investigation, and anyone .with information regarding Smith’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 850-436-9620 or 911.
