A 33-year-old Gainesville man riding a motorcycle west on State Road 24 was killed in a two-vehicle crash the morning of July 23, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Just before 7 a.m. on July 23.

On Archer Road/State Road 24 near its intersection with Southwest 48th Drive.

According to the release, a black sedan being driven by a 72-year-old Gainesville man was heading east on SR 24 and was attempting to turn left into a business at Southwest 48th Drive. The area is home to the Plaza Health and Rehab Center.
At the same time, a 33-year-old Gainesville man on a motorcycle was heading west on SR 24. The motorcycle struck the right front of the sedan as it attempted to turn into the business.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries.
