A Big 12 program has given an FSU commit 'some things to think about'

Three-star offensive lineman Xavier Payne has been committed to the FSU Seminoles since Dec. 21, but several schools are trying to change that. One of those schools is the Colorado Buffaloes, who hosted him on an official visit on Monday.

Payne, an Orlando, Florida product, told John Garcia Jr. of Rivals that he enjoyed his time in Boulder.

“It was great,” Payne said. “The best part was being to sit down with the offensive line coaches and truly building that connection while getting to see their plan for me and how I fit into the program.

Colorado entered the picture late for Payne, offering him a scholarship in May, and this was his first time visiting there. Despite that, he admitted that they are a contender in his recruitment.

“The place has definitely given me some things to think about,” he said. “I meshed really well there. Don’t count them out of my recruitment.”

Payne is considered the No. 35 interior offensive lineman and No. 82 player from Florida by Rivals. He has also taken official visits to see the Arkansas Razorbacks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Syracuse Orange, and will end his official visit schedule this weekend in Tallahassee.

He is one of two offensive linemen committed to the Seminoles, who have 14 total commitments. Payne told Garcia that he will be shutting his recruitment down shortly after his official visit with FSU.
