As we continue to take a look back at the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 12 performance against the Arizona Cardinals, let’s highlight some noteworthy snap count figures.
For the most part, when it comes to playing time, there aren’t many huge surprises, but each week, even when beyond the halfway point in the season, there are a few things we can glean.
With help from PFF, here are a few quick notes from the Jaguars’ snap count totals from Week 12.
Dyami Brown’s role
In the previous two games, Dyami Brown’s role on offense has been reduced. This week against Arizona, it took another step backwards. Brown would play just four snaps in this game. Austin Trammell would play six snaps.
Brenton Strange’s workload
In his first game, Strange played 44 snaps. He made a big impact as well, catching all five targets for 93 yards, along with contributing in the run game as a blocker.
Tight ends are heavily involved
Along with Strange’s workload, Johnny Mundt would play 30 of the Jaguars’ 62 offensive snaps, and Quintin Morris played 20 of them.
Opportunity for Rayuan Lane
Anthony Campanile hasn’t used as many three-safety looks with Eric Murray on IR, but that changed on Sunday, with Lane playing a career-high 26 snaps as the third safety.
Greg Newsome’s playing time
Newsome would play just 27 snaps. Christian Braswell played 56. Here is what Liam Coen had to say, courtesy of Jaguars on SI:
“Yeah, it was both injury and – he tweaked it last week. (I) felt like he didn’t practice a ton this week and we just made a decision there for the best thing for the team,” Coen said.
Defensive line rotation
Dawuan Smoot has continued to be the third member of the defensive tackle rotation based on interior snaps. Without Travon Walker, Dennis Gardeck was second in defensive end snaps, while Danny Striggow was third with 26 and BJ Green fourth with 15.
