Coachella Valley dwellers and travelers can look forward to mostly clear skies for Thanksgiving week, temperate days and only a slight chance of rain toward the end of the holiday weekend.
The time around the Thanksgiving holiday sees some of the busiest travel of the year across the nation, with AAA estimating more than 81 million people traveling over the coming week. Fortunately, adverse weather shouldn’t make the rush more difficult for people, according to early forecasts by the National Weather Service.

Skies are expected to be clear from the start of the week, a relief after about an inch and a half of rain fell on the Coachella Valley during recent storms. Monday should see a temperate high of 75 degrees with a low of about 60. That weather pattern — sunny and clear — should hold through the holiday, with temperatures on Thanksgiving Day expected to be about 80 degrees.
Cloud cover should increase later in the week, with the chance of light showers at about 40% Sunday. Forecasters expect at most a quarter of an inch of rain on Sunday, Nov. 30, historically one of the busier travel days.
Forecasts show Palm Springs International Airport will have light wind, with as much as 10 mph gusts through the week as about 6,300 fliers are expected each day the week before and after Thanksgiving.
