Officers with the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the Adventist Health Simi Valley’s emergency room around 4 p.m. on a report of a Simi Valley woman in her 40s was suffering from injuries after her boyfriend allegedly assaulted her. The agency previously said the woman was treated outside the home.

The boyfriend, a 39-year-old Simi Valley man, barricaded himself inside the house in the 800 block of Royal Avenue, said police Sgt. Frank Panza. The residence is just west of the First Street and Royal Avenue intersection.

The incident blocked part of Royal Avenue for about five hours while police tried to coax the man out, the sergeant said. The man eventually was arrested around 11:39 p.m. when he left the residence and turned himself over to police, Panza said.

The man was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of felonies for domestic violence and attempted murder, police said.

His bail is set at $560,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Nov. 26, according to jail records.
