Rams get huge assist from Cowboys in Week 12

It’s not necessarily time to scoreboard-watch for the Los Angeles Rams, but they’ll be happy with the result in the Philadelphia Eagles-Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday.

Sitting tied with the Eagles at 8-2, the Rams were sitting in second in the NFC standings due to Philadelphia’s head-to-head tiebreaker over Los Angeles. But on Sunday afternoon, the Rams got a huge assist from the Cowboys.

Dallas came back from 21-0 to beat the Eagles at AT&T Stadium, 24-21, handing Philly its third loss of the year. That dropped the Eagles from the No. 1 seed (temporarily), a half-game behind the Rams.

If the Rams beat the Buccaneers on Sunday night, they’ll take over sole possession of first place in the conference, putting them in the driver’s seat for a first-round bye in the playoffs.

While it’s great that the Eagles lost, the Rams have to take care of their own business on Sunday night against a good Buccaneers team. A loss will actually drop the Rams to third in the conference behind the Bears, who will have a better win percentage in conference games as a tiebreaker over Los Angeles.

A win will move the Rams to 9-2, one game ahead of Philly and the Bears, as well as the 8-3 Seahawks. The good news is even with a loss, Los Angeles will still hold the lead in the NFC West.
