About a month ago, a photo of Misko Raznatovic, Nikola Jokić’s agent, meeting with LeBron James and Maverick Carter, James’ business manager, circulated across the internet. It led to instant speculation that Jokic’s camp was preparing to find a way to funnel the superstar center from the Denver Nuggets to the Los Angeles Lakers.
But according to a report, the meeting had nothing to do with Jokic possibly switching teams. The report stated that the meeting was held to discuss a new international basketball league that Carter plans to establish.

Raznatovic went on the “6.75range” podcast and seemed to confirm that report — that he was asked to be a consultant in this potential new league (translated into English).
“They are planning, a certain group of investors, classic business, to create a new league that would somehow also compete with the NBA. They don’t want it to be a U.S. league; they want it to have a European flavor, so to speak. And when they started working on it, everyone told them to call me. I spoke a few times with Maverick Carter, where I got an official role as a consultant. He said it would be best to meet for lunch on a boat where LeBron would also attend. We had that meeting where we talked a lot about the new league, how it would be built, and what would be done.”
As far back as January, an ESPN report indicated that Carter is looking to form such a league that would compete with the NBA.
James has also expressed an interest in someday owning an NBA team. He has publicly made it known that he would love to be in charge of an expansion franchise in Las Vegas. As of now, there are no imminent plans to add any new teams to the league.
