Port Sanilac, MI (August 29th, 2025) – This October, the Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum is transforming into the Thumb’s premier destination for Halloween thrills, family fun, and unforgettable history. From festive costume parties and family-friendly Haunted Village nights to lectures on legendary creatures and a chilling after dark paranormal investigation, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Friday, October 10 – Adult Halloween Party (21+)
Kick off spooky season at the Museum! Beginning at 7:00 p.m., guests ages 21+ can dance the night away at our Adult Halloween Party. Admission is just $10, and costumes are highly encouraged. Enjoy music, refreshments, and a lively atmosphere in one of the Thumb’s most historic settings. Music talent will be by local artist, Lee Malone
Saturday, October 11 – Haunted Village (Family Event)
Bring the whole family for our first Haunted Village of the season at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. The Haunted Village is a one-of-a-kind Halloween tradition set in the historic buildings and grounds of the Sanilac County Museum, where history and spooky fun come together. Families can enjoy safe trick-or-treating, a family-friendly trail for little ones, and a spookier path for those who want a thrill. With lantern-lit walkways, autumn leaves, and a truly unique setting, it’s an affordable night of fall magic for all ages.
Friday, October 17 – History Lecture: “Cryptids Decoded” with Andrew Kercher
At 5:00 p.m., historian Andrew Kercher presents Cryptids Decoded—a fascinating lecture about the history of mysterious creatures. From Bigfoot to the Loch Ness Monster and beyond, Kercher explores how legends often turn into reality. (Would you believe a kangaroo, if you’d never seen one?). Lecture to take place inside the Historic Church at Sanilac County Museum.
Saturday, October 18 – Haunted Village (Family Event)
Didn’t catch it the first time? Don’t worry—the Haunted Village returns at 7:00 p.m. for another night of festive fun. Admission is $5 per person.
Saturday, October 25 – Paranormal Investigation with Detroit Paranormal Expeditions (DPX)
Looking for real chills? Join Detroit Paranormal Expeditions for a guided paranormal investigation of the Historic Village & Museum—including the storied Loop-Harrison Mansion.
● Two Sessions: 7:00–9:00 p.m. & 9:30–11:30 p.m.
● Tickets: $65 General | $50 SCHS Members
● Ages: 16+ (Under 18 with parent/guardian)
With only 12 participants per session, this is an intimate and spine-tingling experience. Guests will use DPX’s professional paranormal investigation equipment as they search for evidence of the unexplained. Disembodied voices, shadowy figures, and slamming doors have all been reported on the grounds. The night comes with one promise: We guarantee nothing but a really good time!
