MSU football reportedly under NCAA investigation for recruiting violations

Michigan State football is reportedly under NCAA investigation for alleged recruiting violations under former head coach Mel Tucker.

The Detroit News reported on Wednesday night that the NCAA is investigating the Spartans program for “ongoing recruiting issues” from when Tucker was the head coach at Michigan State. “We’re trying to make the case that this is a whole new coaching staff,” Guskiewicz told The Detroit News, referring to Jonathan Smith, who was named MSU’s head football coach on Nov. 25, 2023.

Kozlowski reported in her story that Guskiewicz did not indicate the level of seriousness of the purported violations.

Tucker was fired as the Michigan State football head coach during the 2023 season due to a violation in his contract following a confidential complaint of sexual harassment filed against him by Brenda Tracy.
