Where to find backpack, school supplies giveaways in the Lansing area

The times of back to school lists are quickly approaching and families are getting ready to bring their children back to local schools.

Whether your student needs a fresh set of pencils or a new backpack to bring with them on the first day of school, here’s where local families can find backpack giveaways in the Lansing area.

How to donate

Various backpack collection sites are set up throughout the Greater Lansing Area.

Child and Family Charities will be collecting backpacks and school supplies through the first week of August. Pickups can be scheduled by calling 517-289-7306 or emailing quinn@childandfamily.org.

The Village Lansing will be collecting school supplies before the Aug. 23 backpack drive as well. People can donate by bringing school supplies to LAFCU, Reo Elementary or the Letts Community Center.

Catholic Community of St. Jude at 801 N. Bridge St. in DeWitt will be collecting backpacks and school supplies for students in the Lansing area through Aug. 9, in collaboration with Redeemer United Methodist Church. The backpacks will be assembled Aug. 16, and delivered to area agencies Aug. 17.
