“LCHD remains fully operational and continues to deliver essential public health services as planned,” the release read. “While the department is navigating some challenges related to state and federal funding, it remains committed to the health and well-being of Lenawee County residents.”

The rumors, officials said, stemmed from funding uncertainty for the continuation of LCHD’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Navigation Program, which will pause in July. New and follow-up appointments will not be scheduled until future funding is secured and confirmed.

“We understand how important BC3NP is to preventive health care in our community,” wrote Health Officer Monica Hunt. “We are hopeful this is only a temporary pause and remain optimistic funding will be restored in the near future.”

LCHD is working with state authorities to ensure continued support for individuals currently receiving services through the program.

Other non-mandated programs may also be subject to pauses or shutdowns due to uncertain grant funding at both the state and federal levels, the release read. However, mandated programs will continue.
