Could Michigan State basketball be adding another monster non-conference matchup to its 2026-27 schedule? One of its star players suggested that is coming during a recent interview.
During the final night of Moneyball Pro-Am, Spartans sophomore forward Cam Ward hinted at Michigan State adding one more notable non-conference game. According to a video posted by SpartanMag, Ward said there is still one more big game that hasn’t been announced yet on the Spartans’ schedule.
As of right now, we have confirmation that Michigan State will be playing the following notable non-conference games: Duke (part of Champions Classic), Tennessee on the road, Arkansas in Detroit and Gonzaga in Palm Springs, Calif. There is also an expectation that Michigan State will host UConn as an exhibition opponent at home this year, but that has not yet been announced.
Michigan State already has put together a doozy of a schedule for this upcoming season, which they should certainly handle well as a preseason top 10 team. But if they add a fifth monster non-conference game, this may go down as one of head coach Tom Izzo’s hardest schedules of all-time.
