PETERSBURG ― A pair of athletes from Summerfield High School were the overall winners at the Rose Run held on the streets of Petersburg on July 12.
Evan Suydam, a 2023 graduate, took the men’s open title, covering the course through the streets of Petersburg in 16:39.9.
Makenzie Wolfe, who will begin her senior year in a few months, was the women’s open champ in 23:02.1.

Waterstradt wins another title
DUNDEE – Chad Waterstradt of Dundee won his 11th consecutive club championship at Dundee Golf Club on July 13.
Andy Barnes of Dundee was the runner-up. Deerfield’s Pat Bracey won the first flight with Rick Hubbard of Monroe second.
Joerin shoots hole-in-one
TEMPERANCE – Isaiah Joerin used an 8-iron to shoot a hole-in-one on the 148 No. 8 hole at Giant Oak Golf Course on June 27.
Dean aces Dundee
DUNDEE – Rylee Dean of Lambertville recently recorded her first career hole-in-one at Dundee Golf Club.
She used a 9-iron on the No. 9 hole.
PREP SOCCER
Charnock opens scoring
EAST LANSING – Claire Charnock of Monroe High scored the first goal of the day and finished with two goals and an assist during the Michigan All-State Games Saturday.
Bryson Lane and Jovanny Gallegos-Jimenez of Monroe scored in the boys game.
Addison Dolencic and Rylie Cassette of New Boston Huron also played in the games.
ADULT SOCCER
Pippin nets three
MONROE— Josh Pippin scored three goals and brothers Darrion and Darrius McCleskey each scored two to lead Purple to a 7-4 win over Atletico on the first day of Summer Session II in the Monroe Adult Coed Indoor Soccer League at LevelUp Training Sunday, June 20.
Stephanie Zecman scored two goals on her birthday for Atletico.
