CHARLEVOIX — Lake Charlevoix has earned national recognition this summer, landing the No. 9 spot on USA Today’s 10Best list of the best lakes for swimming in 2025.
The ranking, determined by a combination of expert input and public voting, celebrates lakes with clear water, scenic settings and standout swim spots.
Charlevoix stood out for its calm, inviting waters and easy access to public beaches. Compared to the colder currents of neighboring Lake Michigan, Lake Charlevoix offers a warmer and often more family-friendly alternative. The editors noted that Depot Beach is a favorite among visitors looking to cool off in the summer sun.
As the third-largest natural lake in Michigan, Lake Charlevoix continues to draw swimmers, boaters and vacationers from across the Midwest — and now it’s earning praise on the national stage.
