Free donuts and lunch will be part of the celebration on Thursday, Aug. 13 when HomeBuys officially opens in Monroe.
Located at 1575 N. Telegraph Road, the site of a former Big Lots, the discount store purchases name-brand closeouts, overstock, packaging changes and special buys from major retailers and manufacturers.
“We’ll have a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m. and doors open at 9,” said Brian Snow, store manager.
From 8:30 to 11 a.m., while supplies last, Dora’s Donuts will be on site serving free donuts with a limit of one donut per person.
“We will also have free lunch with any purchase,” Snow said.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monroe-based food trucks, Taqueria Nenas and Squeeze The Day Lemonade will offer free lunch while supplies last.
Snow said the day will also feature special deals, prize drawings and giveaways.
Some of the prizes include a bounce house, woodfire grill, three-piece swivel glider patio set and a Huffy Ford F-150 Raptor truck for kids.
Snow, a Toledo resident, was employed with Big Lots for more than 30 years. He started in 1994 and worked as a store manager for more than 15 years. He said he’s excited to see the former Big Lots location open as HomeBuys.
“I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces who shopped at Big Lots, meeting new customers and making new friends,” Snow added.
