Port Huron Fire Department Chief Corey Nicholson said the department received a call around 12:42 p.m. on a fire at 718 Court St.

The house was evacuated during the 911 call, according to Nicholson. Heavy smoke was still visible shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, as firefighters continued to battle the blaze.

According to Nicholson firefighters are still fighting hotspots within the building. He said he expected firefighters to be on scene until at least 5 p.m.

Two people were reported to have minor injuries, including one firefighter. Nicholson said he could not elaborate on how exactly the two individuals were injured.

Court Street was closed to traffic between Sixth and Eighth streets. Areas of Seventh Street are closed north and south of Court Street.

Port Huron Fire Department was assisted by the Port Huron Township Fire Department, Fort Gratiot Fire Department, Marysville Fire Department and Tri-Hospital EMS.
