Alim McNeill could very well be in the Detroit Lions lineup when the team plays the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The defensive tackle is a 50/50 proposition to get activated for Week 5, according to Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
Campbell was asked about McNeill’s progress in his Friday pre-practice press conference. The Lions began McNeill’s 21-day window to get activated from the PUP list on Wednesday. McNeill is returning from a torn ACL suffered last December and has been on the PUP list all season. Based on Campbell’s comments, it’s going very well for the standout defensive tackle.

“We’ve got a lot of data on him right now,” Campbell said of McNeill. “How does he feel? What’s his comfort level, confidence? But also being smart with it.
We kind of worked him in on Wednesday. He got a lot more reps (Thursday) and today he’ll get more reps, but it won’t be near as many. That’s really where we’re at with him.”
Campbell was asked a follow-up about whether we will see McNeill in Cincinnati.
“We’ve talked about it. I don’t know,” Campbell cautioned. “I don’t know. I don’t know, man. I think right now, it’s probably 50/50. I know he wants to play, but we want to be smart, too.”
The Lions can activate McNeill any time, including on Saturday. Stay tuned…
