Voters selected Roy Martin as the Republican nominee for the partial term as Clay Township supervisor during the Aug. 4 primary election.
Unofficial results showed Martin received 1,592 votes (78.27%) to Tony Brasfield’s 432 votes (21.24%).
There were no Democratic candidates on the August ballot for the partial term. Martin will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot, where voters will decide who will serve the remainder of the term ending Nov. 20, 2028.
Martin was appointed as a township trustee in September 2025 following the resignation of trustee Maureen Boury. He was then appointed township supervisor in March 2026 after Paul Cassidy resigned.
Following his appointment as supervisor, Martin told the Times Herald, “We need to move forward. We got divided sides. I believe we need to come forward and get back to moving the township forward.”
Martin did not respond to a request for comment before publication deadline following the primary election.
Treasurer
For township treasurer, voters selected Beverly Rose as the Republican nominee for the partial term during Tuesday’s primary election.
Unofficial results showed Rose received 1,513 votes (74.83%) to Charles Wheeler’s 505 votes (24.98%).
There were no Democratic candidates on the August ballot for the partial term. Rose will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot, where voters will decide who will serve the remainder of the term ending Nov. 20, 2028.
Rose was appointed to the Clay Township Board of Trustees in June 2025 after Brian Campbell resigned. She was then appointed township treasurer in October 2025 following the resignation of Jerry Galka.
“The strong support I received from the 1,513 residents reflects a shared desire for fiscal responsibility, transparency, and dependable leadership in the Clay Township Treasurer’s Office,” Rose said.
Rose said she remains committed to maintaining the township’s day-to-day financial operations by keeping accounts reconciled, carefully overseeing township funds and ensuring residents can trust their tax dollars are managed responsibly.
“It is an honor to serve as your treasurer,” Rose said. “Thank you for your overwhelming support and for trusting me to continue serving Clay Township.”
Trustee
In the trustee race, voters selected Donald Raines as the Republican nominee for the partial term during Tuesday’s primary election.
Unofficial results showed Raines received 1,342 votes (56.60%) to Vincent Milioto’s 1,014 votes (42.77%).
There were no Democratic candidates on the August ballot for the partial term. Raines will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot, where voters will decide who will serve the remainder of the term ending Nov. 20, 2028.
Raines was appointed to the Clay Township Board of Trustees in April 2026 after Roy Martin was appointed township supervisor following the resignation of Paul Cassidy, creating a vacancy on the board.
“I want to thank all the Clay Township and Harsens Island residents who came out and voted for me to retain the trustee seat I was appointed to,” Raines said. “I will continue to do the job, put the community first and hope to earn your vote again in November.”
No Democratic candidates filed for the the partial-term race.
Unofficial election results remain subject to certification by the St. Clair County Board of Canvassers. Candidates advancing from Tuesday’s primary will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
Voters can check their voter registration status, view a sample ballot and find their polling location using the Michigan Voter Information Center.
