Christopher Nolan's films back on big screen for Emagine retrospective

In the lead up to this summer’s “The Odyssey,” Emagine’s Birmingham 8 theater is celebrating director Christopher Nolan by putting his movies back on the big screen.

Nolan is the latest filmmaker to be toasted in Emagine’s Director’s Series. Beginning June 8, the Birmingham 8 Powered by Emagine will show one of Nolan’s films every week for five weeks, leading up to the July 17 release of “The Odyssey.”

Showtimes are at 7 p.m., and tickets are on sale now through Emagine’s website.

Nolan is today’s top filmmaker in the arena of prestige blockbusters. His 2023 film “Oppenheimer” earned $975 million worldwide and picked up the Academy Award for Best Picture.

“The Odyssey” is his follow-up, taking on the epic ancient poem by Homer. The movie stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal and more.

Previous filmmakers in Emagine’s director’s series include David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick and Paul Verhoeven.
