Metro Detroit’s Chicken Shack, the family-owned chain founded in 1956 by John and Iola Sobeck, is celebrating a big milestone. This August, the chain known for its crispy chicken pieces paired with a menu full of sides, including its nicely seasoned “Shack Potatoes,” is marking 70 years in business.
On Monday, Aug. 24, Chicken Shack Rewards members can look forward to ordering a 1956 throwback meal at a special price.
For $1.45 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Chicken Shack Rewards members can get a 4-piece chicken meal with potatoes. Also on Monday, the first 70 Rewards members at each Detroit’s Original Chicken Shack location will take home an exclusive Detroit’s Original Chicken Shack T-shirt.
Chicken Shack has been celebrating its 70th anniversary throughout August with specials and giveaways.
Since that first store opening in Royal Oak, the chain has grown to more than two dozen locations in metro Detroit and beyond. In July, Chicken Shack introduced its new crispy tender, billed as 100% American chicken that is all-natural and never frozen.
