Products from Bliss Bakery and Mama K Gluten Free are now available at more than ten Meijer stores along the lakeshore — marking a significant expansion for the bakery and brand in Holland.
Shoppers can now find the bakery’s frozen gluten-free and dairy-free cinnamon rolls, hamburger buns and hot dog buns across West Michigan, including stores in Holland, Grand Haven, Muskegon (Harvey Street, Norton Shores and Holton Road), Fremont, South Haven, Benton Harbor, Stevensville and Bridge Street Market in Grand Rapids.
The business’ products can also be found at Bliss Bakery on River Avenue in Holland, Lemonjello’s Coffee, Joe2Go, Sanctuary Sweets (Cops and Doughnuts Alpena) and Rykse & Co. in Kalamazoo.
Krista Koets launched the gluten-free bakery from her basement in 2019. Her first brick-and-mortar bakery was housed in Hamilton before relocating to 102 S. River Ave. in Holland in 2023.
During a slow period in February 2024, the business pivoted with the retail-focused launch of Mama K Gluten Free. The growth since has meant early mornings delivering products to stores along the lakeshore and long hours for her team, but Koets said seeing the products in-store makes it all worthwhile.
“It’s been great,” Koets told The Sentinel. “It’s been because of my faith, my family and my friends, and more than that, my team.”
“I’m still having those surreal moments when I walk into my Meijer to shop for groceries for my home and there are my products,” Koets added. “It’s been very rewarding.”
For now, the company will focus on managing recent growth. Within five years, Koets hopes to see her products in all of the store’s 250 locations.
