A Florida-based department store chain with outlets in 22 states is aggressively moving into Michigan and the Lansing area this fall.
Department store chain Bealls will open six stores in Michigan, four this fall and two in spring 2027, Bealls Inc. announced in an Aug. 13 news release. The fall openings in Charlotte, Coldwater, Owosso and Sturgis will make Michigan the 23rd state Bealls operates in. The chain plans stores in Niles and Clio in 2027.
“The Michigan openings represent the latest milestone in a growth strategy focused on expanding the company’s reach to new guests while increasing brand awareness and strong demand for value-driven retail,” the company said in the release.
The Michigan expansion is part of a broader growth initiative that includes the opening of 25 new stores across 12 states in fall 2026 and spring 2027, extending the company’s reach in both existing and new markets.
As Bealls Inc. expands into new markets, the company is also investing in the merchandising capabilities needed to support long-term growth. The company recently increased its buying presence in New York City to strengthen access to national brands, emerging trends, and key vendor partnerships.
The stores will average about 20,000 square feet and will sell a variety of family apparel, footwear, accessories, home decor, housewares, gifts and seasonal merchandise, Bealls Inc. said in the release.
Products will include weekly new merchandise and national brands, and customers will have the option to join the company’s loyalty and rewards program.
