“Outta’ My Mind on a Monday Moanin’”
Even I could figure out what the headline I read in a national newspaper was referring to. The headline was: “Dodgers may as well plan parade route!”
The story went on, of course, about the Los Angeles Dodgers getting Tarik Skubal. Yes, the Detroit Tigers’ Tarik Skubal.
The story went on to state the obvious: “the rich get richer.”
Not much else to say. Not much else needed. It seems a pass through Detroit is the final kiss of good fortune many former Detroit players needed.
Justin Verlander went on to win the World Series. Mathew Stafford went on to win the Super Bowl. It’s truly only a matter of time for Skubal.

As the dust settles on the 2026 primary election results, I can’t get out of my mind that old nugget, “be careful what you wish for.”
On first blush, many Republicans got what they wished for, Democratic socialists winning in their races, setting the Republicans up against “easy-to-beat extremists” in the November general elections. Not so fast, cowboy; voters showed they are fed up with the same old same old. There’s a good chance those people who are up to here with the inaction of both parties are going to show up in the general election looking for a change, in their minds, for the better.
These Democratic socialists, or as I like to call them, communists, do represent something different. Very different. However, an old expression comes back to mind for those embracing these new, exciting agents of change: “Be careful what you wish for.”
