Barn Owl Studio, a fixture at 20 S. Monroe St. in downtown Monroe, is closing its physical store Oct. 1. But, don’t worry, its workshops and popular painted wooden projects will continue.
Parties can be booked and walk-ins are welcome until October. Barn Owl opened its studio 10 years ago.
“We’ve had thousands of customers, thousands of workshops and thousands of projects that we’ve made,” business owner Andrea Lechner told The Monroe News. “With the overhead of my studio, I want to do something a little smaller. Times have changed through the years, but I don’t want to go anywhere.”
Lechner is not yet announcing what will become of her current studio building. But, she said she’s going to have periodic Barn Owl offerings at Kindred & Sol, a rentable event space that opened in 2025 at 14 E. First St., Suite B in downtown Monroe.
“We’ll do a workshop or two starting in October. I’ll be introducing some new projects as well. I’ll still be offering private parties, walk-in workshops, etc. We’re really big with birthday parties, team-building (events),” Lechner said.
Dates and projects will be announced.
Lechner announced the business update Aug. 11, on Barn Owl Studio’s Facebook page.
“This is definitely not goodbye forever. It’s simply a shift into a new chapter—but that doesn’t make closing these doors any less emotional. This little studio has held so many memories, dreams, friendships and moments that I will cherish forever,” says the post. “To every customer, near and far, who has supported Barn Owl Studio over the past 10 years—thank you from the bottom of my heart. And to my family, who has been there working alongside me since the very beginning, I could never thank you enough. Thank you for 10 incredible years. This isn’t the end … just a beautiful new beginning.”
