Halloween fun across St. Clair County

By Barb Pert Templeton

It’s the final weekend for local Halloween events and there’s still plenty of opportunities to enjoy some holiday fun across St. Clair County.

Beyond the weekend most communities will host traditional trick or treating hours on Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. in their own communities.

An exception would be for Marine City where the commission voted to change the Halloween celebration to Saturday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. due to a playoff high school football game on Friday night.

In contrast, at a recent council meeting Algonac Mayor Rocky Gillis said the city’s Halloween Trunk or Treat event will be on Oct. 31 and is going to be setup at Smith Recreation Park from 5 to 7 p.m.

“If you don’t get a lot of kids at your house feel free to come on down, we get tons of kids,” Gillis said. “Then at 7 o’clock we have the most famous hot dogs in Algonac the Rotary Club hot dogs and then we have big (bon)fire.”
