Sanilac County Historical Society Foundation Disburses 2025 Funds

By The Sanilac County Historical Society

Port Sanilac, MI (January, 31st) – MUSEUM FOUNDATION DISBURSES 2025 PROCEEDS

A vision that started in 2012 continues, and will continue for centuries, has again demonstrated its commitment. The Sanilac County Historical Society Foundation presented the 2025 distribution to the Museum in the amount of $15,169.77. The Foundation invests and maintains those investments to generate much-needed funding for the administration of the Museum & Grounds each year by disbursing the proceeds of the investments each year. “Each year proceeds from the principal investment are provided to the Museum to continue permanent support, just as the original donors intended,” noted Jolyne Fisher, the Foundation President.

“The Historical Foundation was started with very generous donations by such notable and local supporters as Philomena Falls, George Irvine, Jane Miller, and Stanley Harrison, the final family member of the Loop-Harrison family,” explained Mrs. Fisher.

Captain Stanley Harrison donated the property in Port Sanilac to the County Historical Society in 1964 and since then it has become Sanilac County’s own “miniature Greenfield Village,” noted Rita Dahmen, SCHS Trustee who is also a docent at the Museum.

“We are a David amongst Goliaths when seeking funding,” Dan Finn explained. “This annual endowment disbursement is valuable in our quest to be able to offer so many valuable programs, events, and exhibits.”

Anyone seeking to support this long-term vision is encouraged to send donations of any amount to the Sanilac County Historical Society Foundation, P.O. Box 105, Port Sanilac, MI 48469.

Or contact Dan Finn, Administrator of the Museum at sanilacmuseum@gmail.com, 810-622-9946 or any of the following Foundation Board Members: Jolyne Fisher, Cathy Stewart, Gary Klepper, Al Hosler, Bill Gray, Ron Erikson, or Rita Dahmen.

The Foundation is a separate entity from the many successful fund-raising events held at the Museum.

The Sanilac County Historical Society Foundation is a certified 501(C)3 nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
