Another letter of pretty routine happenings. Patrols and ambushes still went on on a pretty regular basis but being young with little recreation we made do with what we had. Mostly challenging each other in one way or another. This kept us entertained and in shape.
I hope this letter isn’t too sloppy but I am still trembling as a result of the hand to hand combat I was just involved in. I got beat twice and won once. I got beat at arm wrestling and won in plain old high school wrestling. These darn Marines might be stronger but I am luckier when it comes to wrestling.
Sure was glad to hear Dave is doing well. As for myself I still weigh about the same though I did get down to about 150 a week or so ago. I was pretty sick but I am doing quite well now in spite of my self treatment.
Actually my whole platoon had been quite sick. We were able to eat some hot chow at a mess hall and were blessed with a pretty good dose of dysentery as a result. Remembering my days as a kid on the farm in Missouri and treating our sick hogs I figured what worked for them should work for us. I was able to get to the Navy hospital near Marble Mountain and talked the pharmacist into giving me a 1000 pill bottle of tetracycline and in just two days we were all as good as new. Just another day at the office.
