Boeing, GE identify potential engine seal issue on 777X, Bloomberg News reports

Feb 2 (Reuters) – Boeing and General Electric have identified a potential durability issue involving a seal on the engine that powers Boeing’s 777X aircraft, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The issue was first disclosed by Boeing during its earnings conference call last week. It would not affect the planemaker’s 2027 deliveries, CEO Robert Ortberg said on the call.

The finding could require the seal to be redesigned and retrofitted during future maintenance overhauls, the report added.
