Blue Water Fallen Heroes Update

By Kathleen Knowles

The hotline hasn’t rung in a long time. Many of the photos recently posted have come from networking. This St. Clair County sacrifice is the latest image that has come to us. While it does lack the sharpness of detail, the family continues to look for a clearer image. Sgt. Edwin C Davis’ tour of duty ended June 22, 1944, during the invasion of Normandy. He was 20 years of age and proudly represented the village of Smiths Creek. He is #238 of the 580+ images we hope to locate.

The need for community involvement is huge. This is a St Clair County-wide project. It includes all of us. This project is driven by and for the families of these brave men as well as being driven for the memories of these many sacrifices. Our 24/7 hotline hardly rings lately. If you cannot come to Port Huron, we have been known to make road trips and would be willing to meet you at any public place of your choosing. There is NO COST to you, now or in the future. We can also scan slides and negatives. If you have access to or know someone who has a photo of a ST. CLAIR COUNTY resident who died while in service to their country, please contact (810) 985-2007.

Also, please note. We will go just about anywhere, to address any group (Church, social, fraternal, Service group), you name it, simply to educate the public about this project.

All financial contributions can be made payable to the St Clair County Community Foundation with ‘FALLEN HEROES BANNER PROJECT’ on the memo line. All online or mailed in contributions are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. No one has access to any contributions except the Community Foundation and their only role is to pay the bills that must be directly connected with the Banner Project. We anticipate the cost per banner to be between $100 and $150 USD each. Any contributions (large or small) are greatly appreciated. The Foundation’s address is on the back of the flier at the top of this article.

Get involved! Honor those men and women who have made freedom in this country possible.
