A Florida team can qualify for its fourth straight Southeast regional championship game if Chaires-Capitola can beat Phenix City, Alabama, today. That would put the Tallahassee boys one step away from reaching the 2026 Little League World Series.
Chaires Little League dominated its first two games at regionals, beating teams from Georgia and South Carolina by a combined score of 24-2. Phenix City won both of its games by three runs, including an 8-5 win Saturday, Aug. 8, against perennial regional power Nolensville, Tennessee. “The Green Machine” is used to taking down titans, though: They beat the reigning regional champs from Irmo, South Carolina, 8-1 and won the state title by blanking 2024 LLWS champion Lake Mary 6-0.
A loss today wouldn’t spell the end of Tallahassee’s tournament; it would put them in an elimination game Monday, Aug. 10. They’d have to win that to earn a rematch for a place in Williamsport. Follow along live with us as Chaires continues its Southeast regional run.

Florida jumps out to early lead over Alabama in Little League Southeast Regional
The team from the Chaires-Capitola Little League had their hitting shoes on early. Xavier Schenck reached on an error by the first baseman to leadoff the first inning. Kai Stephens followed with a single up the middle. But after Landon DelPrado’s fielder’s choice put runners on the corner with one out, Stephens then stole second base during the next at-bat, in which Camden Arnold walked to load the bases.
Then on a full-count pitch, Everett Fiore singled sharply to left to score Schenck. The throw from the outfield to home plate was wide, allowing Stephens to score on the error. Then with two outs, Jordan Murray’s hard-hit grounder was bobbled by the second baseman, allowing Arnold to score. On the next at-bat, as Murray tried to steal second, the catcher’s throw to the second baseman was errant, giving Fiore home plate.
Florida wiggles out of early jam to keep game scoreless
It was apparent that the team from Phenix City, Alabama, was ready to jump on Chaires, but pitcher Xavier Schenck was up to the challenge. Singles by Easton Allen and Urijah Berklite put runners on first and second with one out. But Schenck got Casen Smith to fly out to left and Cam Lee to line out to short to end the threat.

Chaires Little League plays primarily at Daniel B. Chaires Community Park in Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. The city is located on the Florida Panhandle. Their home park is close to 15 miles east of Doak Campbell Stadium, home of the Florida State football team.
