Of the five candidates vying for a judgeship on Livingston County’s 44th Circuit Court, unofficial results suggest Andrea Banfield and Kristina Lyke will move forward to the general election Nov. 3.
According to unofficial results, Banfield earned 25.88% of the vote and Lyke earned 24.7% of the vote. Mark Gatesman was close behind with 24.66% of the vote, with a gap of just 22 ballots.
Judge Suzanne Geddis was unable to run for re-election due to age restrictions. Her role is responsible for overseeing felony-level criminal cases; civil cases over $25,000; divorce and family matters; juvenile cases; personal protection orders and name changes.
Other candidates included Christopher Candela and Mary Ellen Hayes.
Banfield is a lifelong resident of Livingston County, and has practiced law for nearly three decades. Her practice focuses on family law, and she’s earned experience in civil, criminal and tax matters, as well as contracts, bankruptcy and probate.
Lyke grew up in Pinckney and has practiced law for 20 years, including in counties Livingston, Eaton, Shiawassee, Jackson, Ingham and Clinton. The majority of her practice focuses on criminal and family law.
