MSU football offers 3-star WR from Iowa following impressive camp visit

Michigan State football has joined a pair of Iowa schools in extending an offer to an intriguing wide receiver prospect in the 2028 class.

Jayden Stephens of Waverly, Iowa announced on Tuesday that he’s picked up an offer from the Spartans. Stephens’ offer from Michigan State came after a strong showing during a camp with the Spartans earlier that day.

Stephens is listed as a three-star prospect, with a recruiting rating of 89 in 247Sports’ system. He ranks as the No. 18 athlete and No. 4 player from Iowa in the 2028 class. He is also marked as the No. 405 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2028 class.

Michigan State joins a small list of schools that have already extended an offer to Stephens, but my assumption is that list will continue to grow in the coming weeks and months. At the moment, Stephens holds offers from the Spartans, Iowa, Iowa State and South Dakota, according to 247Sports.

Being one of the first few schools to offer Stephens should bode well for Michigan State in his recruitment. It’ll obviously, though, be hard to pull him away from the Hawkeyes or Cyclones as his local power four schools, but we will have to just wait and see if the Spartans can find a path in his recruitment going forward.
