Brighton sushi restaurant cited for cook with open wound in May

Each month, the Livingston County Health Department inspects restaurants, schools and other facilities for unsafe food practices.

Good food safety practices are critical to preventing foodborne illness and promoting public health. The Daily publishes reports on “priority” violations — those that could “directly lead to contamination of food or increase the risk of transmitting a foodborne illness,” as well as corrective measures taken. At least 20 dining establishments inspected in April had priority violations. Follow-up inspections of priority violations are also provided if they occurred last month.

Nine priority violations were found at:

Yume Sushi & Asian Cuisine: 8028 W. Grand River Ave. #5 in Brighton

During a follow up inspection, training had been done on proper dish washing, handwashing, glove usage, and food code. The paper towel dispenser was repaired, food contact surfaces were clean and chlorine test strips were available. There were no violations observed at the follow-up inspection.

Big Chicken: 10490 Highland Road in Hartland

Five priority violations were found at:

Side Car Slider Bar: 120 W. Main St. in Brighton

Four priority violations were found at:

La Marsa Brighton: 543 W. Grand River Ave. in Brighton

Moose Ridge Golf Course: 11801 Doane Road in South Lyon

During a follow-up inspection, a quat test kit was located at the facility.

Oak Pointe Country Club: 4500 Club Dr. in Brighton

Three priority violations were found at:

Coratti’s Pizzeria: 316 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell

Hatorando Sushi: 10582 Highland Road in Hartland

Red Olive Restaurant: 3838 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell

Two priority violations were found at:

CC Catering: 318 W. Grand River Ave. in Brighton

Hartland Glen Golf Course: 12400 Highland Road in Hartland

Hell Saloon 2: 4093 Patterson Lake Road in Pinckney

During a follow-up inspection, the glass washer pumps were replaced and the dish machine is operating correctly. Sanitizer levels were set to a concentration of 12.5 ppm.

Howell Nutrition: 1131 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell

Leo’s Coney Island: 8280 Movie Drive in Brighton

Livingston County Senior Nutrition: 11600 Grand River Ave. in Brighton

Casa Tequila: 501 W. Main St. in Brighton

Thai Express Cafe: 112 W. Grand River Ave. Brighton

Wings Etc.: 1788 N. Old US-23 in Howell

One priority violation was found at:

AG’s Authentic Indian Cuisine: 10049 E. Grand River Ave., Suite 900 in Brighton

All Star Coney Island: 934 S. Michigan Ave. in Howell

Block Brewing Company: 1840 S. Old US-23 in Brighton

During a follow-up inspection, the cooler was repaired and had an ambient temperature of 35 degrees.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store: 7925 Conference Center Dr. in Brighton

Greecian Island Restaurant: 9994 E. Grand River Ave. in Brighton

Kensington Golf Course Starter Building: 13760 High Ridge Dr. in Brighton

Lakelands Golf Country Club: 8760 Chilson Road in Brighton

Livingston Co. Wildlife Conservation: 6060 E. M-36 in Whitmore Lake

Single Barrel Social: 8724 W. Grand River Ave. in Brighton

Tyrone Hills of Michigan: 8449 US-23 in Fenton
