A suspect who Livonia police said fatally stabbed a man Thursday has been arrested, officials said.
They said officers arrested the suspect at about 9:20 p.m.
“Based on evidence collected at the scene and follow-up leads, Livonia Police Department Detectives were able to identify, locate, and arrest the individual believed to be responsible for the fatal stabbing,” authorities said in a statement. “The investigation remains active and ongoing.”
Livonia police officers were called at about 4:30 p.m. to the area of Middlebelt Road and Orangelawn Street near Plymouth Road for a welfare check, they said. Callers reported a man was lying on the side of the road, according to police.
Officials said first responders arrived and found the man had a single stab wound in his upper chest area. Medics rendered aid, but later pronounced the man deceased at the scene, they said.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect should call the Livonia Police Department at (734) 466-2470.
