Tyson Robinson, 4-star RB, commits to Michigan football for 2027

Another day, another Michigan football commit.

Wolverines coaches were playing catchup after assembling as a full unit in January, but they’re gaining speed, both on the 2027 recruiting trail and on the field, with a pledge from four-star running back Tyson Robinson.

Robinson, out of Brandon, Mississippi, chose Michigan over Alabama, Arizona State, Miami (Florida) and Tennessee.

Robinson, who stands 5-foot-9½ and 199 pounds, ranks as the No. 8 player in Mississippi, No. 15 running back in America and the No. 224 player in the class of 2027, according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings. Per his recruiting profile, he ran 165 times for 1,050 yards (6.3 yards per rush), had 24 catches for 295 yards and scored nine touchdowns as a junior despite missing four games with an injury.

“Compact runner with an impressive blend of quickness, balance and agility,” 247 Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Can beat defenders to the perimeter with his speed but has the feet and feel to work between the tackles as he follows blockers and bounces from lane to lane.

“Vision allows him to identify cutback opportunities early. … Core strength leads to broken tackles in the open field.”

Robinson broke onto the national scene as a sophomore, when he rushed for 1,295 yards (at 7.3 yards per carry), caught 42 passes for 668 yards and scored 34 total touchdowns. A two-sport athlete, Robinson ran an 11.15 in the 100 meters and a 23.38 in the 200 as a freshman.

“Will step on the pedal when he finds a crease, but another gear would result in more touchdowns,” Ivins wrote. “Projects as a potential multi-year contributor at the Power Four level that could thrive as a change-of-pace option with his burst and creativity.”
