The water main break in Oakland County that could leave residents under a boil water advisory for up to two weeks is also affecting operations at Stellantis’ Auburn Hills headquarters.
The city of Auburn Hills declared a state of emergency and issued a mandatory boil water advisory after the break was discovered in the early hours of Sunday, May 10.
Stellanis spokeswoman Jodi Tinson said in a statement emailed to the Detroit Free Press that all employees ― unless otherwise informed ― should not report for duty.
“All Stellantis employees working at the Chrysler Technology Center, Lapeer Road Marshalling Center, Chrysler Office Building, Featherstone Road Engineering Center and other area facilities should work remotely on Monday, May 11 unless otherwise notified by their management,” the statement said. “Employees should monitor local news outlets and the company’s intranet for updates.”
Tinson added that she is unaware if the building will be on a boil water advisory like other areas in Auburn Hills but would provide bottled water for essential employees.
The Great Lakes Water Authority informed residents of Orion Township, the Village of Lake Orion, City of Rochester Hills, and the northern section of Auburn Hills to use water only for absolutely essential reasons such as “hydration, food preparation and basic sanitation.”
