The Pistons enter with a 1-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals series after taking Game 1, 111-101, with a late surge sparked by the connection between All-Stars Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren.

The Pistons are looking to take a 2-0 lead in a playoff series for the first time since the 2008 Eastern Conference semifinals, where Detroit beat the Orlando Magic in five games. The Pistons will need another strong defensive performance and bench contributions to take a two-game lead.

Watch Pistons-Cavs on Prime Video

The Cavaliers, led by guards Donovan Mitchell and James Harden, committed 20 turnovers in Game 1, which hindered their attempted second-half comeback. Cleveland looks to even the series before hosting Games 3 and 4.

Pistons vs Cavs score, Game 2 highlights

Ausar Thompson picks up 3rd foul; Pistons lead 36-29

James Harden and Ausar Thompson have been going back and forth throughout the first half. Thompson has had his share of fine defensive moments, but has picked up three fouls against Harden, who has successfully drawn contact for fouls.

The Pistons and Cavs have traded buckets so far through the first five minutes of the second. Caris LaVert has six points on two made 3s off the bench. Detroit leads 36-29 with 6:43 left in the half.

Cavs owner Dan Gilbert buses fans to Detroit

The mind games from Cavs owner and Detroit business owner Dan Gilbert. The Rocket Mortgage mogul sent buses of Cavs fans to Detroit for Game 2, covering the trip and tickets. There are certainly more Cavs fans in Detroit than Orlando Magic fans in the first round.

The three-hour drive around Lake Erie is certainly more manageable.

End 1st quarter: Pistons lead Cavs 25-18

The Pistons lead the Cavaliers 25-18 after 12 minutes of action. The Pistons defense has forced six turnovers to enjoy an early advantage. Ausar Thompson and Donovan Mitchell lead all scorers with eight points. The Pistons are shooting 55% (11-of-20) while the Cavs are shooting 37% (7-of-19).

Pistons defense swarming for early lead

The Cavs are getting nothing easy in the first 10 minutes. The Pistons have held them to 11 points with six turnovers compared to five made shots. The Pistons lead 20-11 after the first 9:30 of action.

Tobias Harris fine after timeout

Tobias Harris immediately returned to the game after the timeout. He showed no limitations after briefly going to the ground holding his hip.

Tobias Harris slow to get up

Pistons forward Tobias Harris went down with an injury with 6:54 left in the first quarter. Harris fell to the floor while trying to guard Donovan Mitchell’s drive to the rim. Harris stayed on the floor holding his left hip, and got up after J.B. Bickerstaff called a timeout

Early Pistons steals spark offense

The Pistons have five points off three steals in the first three minutes, helping build a 12-5 lead and force a Cavs timeout. Duncan Robinson produced two of those steals and scored himself off both.

Pistons rolling with same staring lineup

The Detroit Pistons are starting the same five players: Cade Cunningham, Duncan Robinson, Ausar Thompson, Tobias Harris and Jalen Duren. The lineup has played well for the Pistons in the first eight playoff games.

The Cavaliers are starting James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Dean Wade, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.

Kevin Huerter, Sam Merrill out

The Pistons and Cavs will both be down one bench player tonight. Kevin Huerter remains out with a left adductor strain, while Cavs wing Sam Merrill is out with a left hamstring strain. There are no other players on tonight’s injury report.

Kevin Huerter doubtful for Pistons

Kevin Huerter, who the Pistons acquired at the trade deadline, remains doubtful with a left adductor strain. Huerter has played sparingly in the playoffs due to the injury.

J.B. Bickerstaff pregame press conference

Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff emphasized the importance of depth off the bench, closing out on Cleveland’s 3-point shooters and Cade Cunningham’s two-way importance in his pregame press conference.

Pistons uniforms in Game 2 vs Cavs

The Pistons are wearing their all-white jerseys and shorts for the ninth straight playoff game (and are set to wear white on the road in Games 3-4). The Cavaliers for Game 2 are again in their all-black Statement Edition uniform.
